I was going through some old files the other day – trying to put a bit of shape on them and my life!!  Maybe had more luck with the files 🙂  Anyway, found these three pieces, all linked, about a sign my grandfather had at the end of our road.  It was to advertise the garage and, at that time, the sale of bicycles (ironically the bike is making quite a comeback now so you’d wonder if he were still here would be having a go??).  I never saw the sign in operation but remember seeing and being fascinated by the wooden head of the man on the bike, he was called “Simon”.  Anyway, maybe someone looking at this (I’m thinking of people like Ed Molloy!!) might like the memory.

These were in a folder my mother must have given me at some stage.  They are photocopies that someone must have given her.  There are a few more photos in it is as well – of Gurteen Church, local football team (County Champions in 1907) and a few more so might include them here as well:
