Ash Wednesday 2019

I just bought a few bits in a service station.  As I went to pay, she asked me: “Have you a loyalty tag?”

For a second I thought to ask her to look at my forehead!  The trace of this morning’s Ashes is still there. “No”, I replied.

Maybe that’s the way we should look at the Ashes today – a sort of “loyalty tag” – an attempt at least to connect with a place of worship and a God to be worshipped.

Have you a loyalty tag?
