Last year I bought a ukelele and, since then have tried to learn a few tunes. Some with more success than others and some were absolute failures.
One piece of advice I picked up from a YouTube video was around trying to learn a tune. It said that if you can play some of it well and then come to a spot that causes you problems, focus on the part that is causing problems and play it over and over until you manage it. No point replaying the part that is going well – not until the troubesome piece is learnt.
I think it’s not bad advice. As we begin Lent maybe we give thanks for the tune of life and the bits we can play well. Maybe too, we focus on the parts that are giving us trouble and try to get a better grip of them.
Then we can put the whole tune together.
