“Though I am not religious ……” it’s amazing how many people feel the need to preface a statement with these words. I always find it a bit sad, especially when it comes from someone who might be looked up to in the world of entertainment or public life. It’s as if being religious is a drawback and to shake it off represents progress.
In these early days of Lent, maybe we could ask ourselves where we are on the scale of being religious. It’s not about being holier-than-thou but it is about courage and commitment.
Religion is meant to be a gift – not a burden. An asset – not a liability.
